Algerian Arabic in a voice-over brief

Algerian Arabic, or Darja, is a Maghrebi dialect with a heavy layer of French and some Berber vocabulary. Dialects vary between Algiers, Oran, Constantine and the south. Daily speech is rarely written, so scripts are adapted from the standard form and from French. Algerian communities in France make up a large diaspora audience. A brief states the city or region, the register and which French terms remain.

  2. French influence

    French words are common.

  3. Regional variation

    Algiers, Oran and Constantine differ.

What casting decides in Algerian Arabic

  • Darja or MSA

Ads use Darja; formal content uses MSA.

  • Region

    We confirm the target city.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
