What Castilian Spanish voice-over is hired for

  • Spain, national

A Castilian broadcast voice is the default for national advertising, public information and corporate film.

  • Regional audiences

Andalusian, Canarian and other regional accents suit local brands. Catalan and Galician campaigns have their own language.

  • Spanish used abroad

Brands using Spanish in Europe for Spanish-speaking customers generally choose a Castilian voice.

Typical projects

  • Brands advertising nationally in Spain
  • Banks, telecoms and utilities informing customers
  • Global firms localising product and training films for Spain
  • Agencies adapting Latin American masters for Spain

Accent and direction notes

What our director listens for in a Castilian Spanish session.

  1. The distinción sound

Castilian Spanish pronounces c before e or i and z like the “th” in “think”. Latin American speech does not, and listeners hear the difference immediately.

  2. Vosotros

Spain uses vosotros for the informal plural, while Latin America uses ustedes. A script written for Latin America needs adaptation.

  3. Vocabulary

Words like ordenador, móvil and coche differ from their Latin American equivalents. We check the script for words that mark it as imported.

  4. Regional identity

Spain’s regions are proud of their speech. A national brand usually picks a neutral Castilian voice and avoids regional markers.

What casting decides in Castilian Spanish

  • Neutral Castilian or regional

A national campaign uses neutral Castilian. A local brand may use a regional accent to signal belonging.

  • Spain or Spanish-language co-official regions

Catalan, Galician and Basque audiences may prefer their own language. We cover Catalan on a separate page.

  • Warm or direct

Spanish advertising ranges from warm and humorous to composed. We shortlist for the brand’s register.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.

Length
Word count or running time of the finished audio.
Use and territory
Internal, online or broadcast; where it runs and for how long.
Voice
Some languages and voice profiles are scarcer than others.
Picture and files
Recording to timecode, splitting and naming add work.

Castilian Spanish voice-over questions

Is Castilian Spanish the same as Spanish from Spain?

In practice, yes. We use Castilian for the standard Spanish of Spain, as opposed to the regional languages and the Latin American varieties.

Can I reuse a Latin American script for Spain?

Not as it stands. Pronouns, vocabulary and some verb forms differ. We flag what to change.

Do you offer Catalan and Galician?

Catalan has its own page. Tell us about Galician or Basque and we advise.

Can one quote cover Spain and Latin America?

Yes. List both and you get one written quote with each version.

Tell us about your Castilian Spanish project

Four questions. A draft script or a word count is enough; you get a written quote before anything is recorded.
