Chichewa in a voice-over brief

Chichewa is the national language of Malawi and is closely related to Nyanja in Zambia. It is a Bantu language with noun-class prefixes and tones, written in Latin letters. Health, agriculture and education are frequent subjects for recorded information, and radio reaches audiences outside the cities. Listeners expect a plain, friendly read. In the brief we ask whether the audience is rural or urban, which words from English stay as they are and whether the voice should match a presenter already used in the campaign.

  1. Noun classes

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
