Hausa in a voice-over brief

Hausa is a Chadic language of the Afroasiatic family and a trade language across West Africa, spoken natively in northern Nigeria and Niger. It is tonal, and it distinguishes long and short vowels, so a script written without these marks can be misread. Latin letters are standard today, while an older Arabic-based script still appears in religious and traditional texts. Radio is an important medium, and listeners expect a warm, conversational read. We confirm the country, the script, the register and whether English or Arabic words need a pronunciation note.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.

Use and territory
