Maltese in a voice-over brief

Maltese is a Semitic language written in Latin letters, with a vocabulary that mixes Arabic roots with Italian, Sicilian and English words. English is also official in Malta and most people speak both, so a brief must decide which language each message uses. Tourism, gaming and finance are major industries. A recording agrees the register, how English words are said and whether the script uses special letters correctly, and a native reviewer checks the final text.

Accent and direction notes

What our director listens for in a Maltese session.

  1. Semitic base

Maltese comes from Arabic but includes Italian and English.

  2. Latin script

It is the only Semitic language written in Latin letters.

  3. English mix

    Speakers mix Maltese and English.

What casting decides in Maltese

  • Maltese or English

    Many campaigns run both.

  • Register

    Public notices are formal.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
