What Swiss German voice-over is hired for

  • German-speaking Switzerland

Zurich, Bern, Basel and the regions, each with its own dialect.

  • Broadcast and advertising

Local radio and TV often use dialect; formal media use Swiss Standard German.

  • Corporate and training

Swiss Standard German is the usual choice for written-script work.

Typical projects

  • Swiss retailers, banks and insurers
  • Broadcast and local radio advertisers
  • Public bodies
  • Learning teams in Swiss companies

Accent and direction notes

What our director listens for in a Swiss German session.

  1. Dialect or Standard

Dialect is spoken and rarely written. Standard German with a Swiss accent is used for formal copy.

  2. Spelling

Switzerland writes ss instead of ß.

  3. Which dialect

Zurich and Bern differ clearly. The brief should name the target region.

What casting decides in Swiss German

  • Dialect or Swiss Standard German

Broadcast ads usually want dialect; training and corporate want Standard.

  • Region

We cast per city or region.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.

Swiss German voice-over questions

Can you record in Swiss German dialect?

Yes, for the regions you name. Scripts are adapted to speech before recording.

Is a German voice fine for Switzerland?

It is understood but sounds imported. A Swiss voice is better for local work.

Do you also record Swiss French?

Yes, see the Swiss French page.

Four questions. A draft script or a word count is enough; you get a written quote before anything is recorded.
