Tetum in a voice-over brief

Tetum is the national language of Timor-Leste, alongside Portuguese, and the Tetum used in the capital, Dili, has absorbed many Portuguese words. Written in Latin letters, it is relatively easy to read aloud but the pool of professional voices is small, so availability comes first. Public information, health campaigns and education are the main uses. We ask whether the text is in Tetum Dili or a regional variety, how Portuguese names should sound and whether Portuguese or Indonesian versions will be recorded as well.

  1. Portuguese loans

    Tetum borrows many Portuguese words.

  2. Small voice pool

    Availability is confirmed before quoting.

  3. Beside Portuguese

    Many campaigns run in both.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.

Use and territory
