Awadhi in a voice-over brief

Awadhi is spoken in a region of central Uttar Pradesh and is written in Devanagari. It is known as the language of classic devotional poetry, so a recording may call for a measured, almost sung delivery that differs from everyday speech. Many listeners also understand Hindi, which tempts producers to use one voice for both, but local audiences hear the difference in vocabulary and rhythm. In the brief we ask whether the piece is heritage or contemporary, what register is wanted and whether a Hindi version should be recorded in parallel.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
