Bulgarian in a voice-over brief
Bulgarian is a South Slavic language written in Cyrillic, unusual among Slavic languages for having lost most noun cases and for using a postfixed definite article. Stress moves between forms, and a wrong stress changes the word. Advertising, telecoms and EU-funded projects are typical clients. A brief states the register, how English terms are said and whether a Macedonian version will follow.
Accent and direction notes
What our director listens for in a Bulgarian session.
Cyrillic and stress
Stress moves between words and changes meaning. Scripts get stress marks where ambiguous.
No cases
Bulgarian lost most noun cases, unlike its neighbours, so word order differs from other Slavic scripts.
English brand names
A pronunciation list sets how they are said.
What casting decides in Bulgarian
Formal or friendly
Banks and public bodies are composed; retail is warmer.
Age and energy
We shortlist for the audience.
How we work
Casting
We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.
Direction
A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.
Delivery
Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.
What decides the price
No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
