Egyptian Arabic in a voice-over brief
Egyptian Arabic is the dialect of Cairo and the most widely understood outside its home country, thanks to decades of Egyptian film, television and music. Its pronunciation of the letter jim as a hard g is a clear marker. Scripts are usually adapted from the standard form. A brief states the audience, the register and whether a standard Arabic version will follow.
Accent and direction notes
What our director listens for in a Egyptian Arabic session.
Cairo sound
The dialect has recognisable sounds, such as a hard g for the letter jim.
Spoken, not written
Scripts are adapted from formal Arabic to speech.
Humour and warmth
Egyptian delivery is expressive. Direction aims at natural performance.
What casting decides in Egyptian Arabic
Egyptian or pan-Arab
A neutral or MSA read travels farther; Egyptian signals Egypt.
Register
Retail is colloquial; public information is formal.
How we work
Casting
We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.
Direction
A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.
Delivery
Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.
What decides the price
No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
