Levantine Arabic in a voice-over brief

Levantine Arabic covers the dialects of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Palestine. Syrian and Lebanese speech is common in television and advertising. The dialects have their own vocabulary, and they replace the classical letter qaf with a glottal stop in cities. A brief names the country or city, the register and whether the written script is in standard Arabic or already in dialect.

Accent and direction notes

What our director listens for in a Levantine Arabic session.

  1. A family of dialects

Sounds vary between countries. We confirm which.

  2. Spoken style

Scripts are adapted from formal Arabic to speech.

  3. Foreign words

French and English words appear. Scripts decide.

What casting decides in Levantine Arabic

    We shortlist per target.

  • Register

Retail is colloquial; public information is formal.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
