Gujarati in a voice-over brief

Gujarati is an Indo-Aryan language with a script of its own that omits the top line used in Devanagari. It is the language of a trading and business culture, with communities in East Africa, the UK and North America. Speech in the diaspora often mixes in English. A brief states whether the audience is in India or abroad, the register and the treatment of English terms.

Accent and direction notes

What our director listens for in a Gujarati session.

  1. Its own script

Gujarati has a script of its own, without the top line of Devanagari.

  2. Diaspora speech

Overseas Gujarati picks up English words.

  3. Formal and colloquial

    The register depends on audience.

What casting decides in Gujarati

  • India or diaspora

    References and accent differ.

  • Register

    Finance is formal.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
