Icelandic in a voice-over brief
Icelandic has changed little from Old Norse, which lets modern speakers read medieval sagas with effort. Nouns, names and numbers inflect for case, so a name inserted into a sentence needs the correct form. The population is small and the pool of professional voices is limited. Tourism, banking and public services are typical clients. A brief states the register, how names are inflected and whether English will be recorded beside Icelandic.
Accent and direction notes
What our director listens for in a Icelandic session.
Inflection
Names and numbers inflect, so scripts need a native pass.
Conservative language
It has changed little in a thousand years of writing.
Small voice pool
Availability is confirmed before quoting.
What casting decides in Icelandic
Icelandic or English
Tourism uses both.
Register
Public notices are plain.
How we work
Casting
We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.
Direction
A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.
Delivery
Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.
What decides the price
No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
