Lithuanian in a voice-over brief

Lithuanian is among the most archaic living Indo-European languages and has seven cases, a free pitch accent and long and short vowels. Translated scripts therefore need careful checking by a native reader before recording. Lithuanians also live in large numbers in the UK, Ireland and elsewhere, so some campaigns address the diaspora with references that differ from those at home. In the brief we ask where the audience lives, whether the register is formal or conversational and how foreign names should be pronounced.

Accent and direction notes

  1. Pitch accent

Stress and pitch can change meaning.

  2. Cases

Seven cases make translated scripts risky.

  3. Related to Latvian

    Related but distinct.

What casting decides in Lithuanian

    References differ.

  • Register

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.

Use and territory
