Somali in a voice-over brief

Somali is written in Latin letters using an alphabet adopted in 1972. It has a strong oral tradition of poetry, and radio and the spoken word remain important to audiences. Northern and southern varieties differ, and diaspora communities in Europe and North America use some borrowed words. A recorded read should be warm and measured rather than rapid. In the brief we ask where the audience lives, the medium and the register, and whether Arabic or English versions will be recorded as well.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.
