Dari in a voice-over brief

Dari is the form of Persian used in Afghanistan. It keeps some older pronunciations that Iranian Persian has lost and has its own vocabulary. It is written in the Persian alphabet from right to left. Public health, security and development messages are often produced in Dari and Pashto together. A brief states the audience, the register and whether the final text follows Afghan or Iranian spelling conventions.

Accent and direction notes

What our director listens for in a Dari session.

  1. A Persian variety

Dari is close to Iranian Persian but with its own sound and vocabulary.

  2. Right-to-left script

    Scripts run right to left.

  3. Beside Pashto

Many campaigns run in Dari and Pashto.

What casting decides in Dari

    Audiences hear the difference.

  • Register

    Health information is plain.

How we work

  1. Casting

We shortlist voices for your language, audience and tone, and explain the difference between them. You choose, and approve a written quote.

  2. Direction

A director runs the session against your brief: meaning, pace and every agreed pronunciation. You can listen in remotely.

  3. Delivery

Every file is checked against the script word by word and technically, then delivered in your format and naming.

What decides the price

No price list: every quote is written for your project and states usage and the delivery date.

Length

Use and territory
